Homelessness

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative (BHHI) has conducted the California Statewide Study of People Experiencing Homelessness (CASPEH). The CASPEH is the largest representative study of homelessness conducted in California and the largest representative study of homelessness in the United States since the mid-1990s. The study examined the characteristics and experiences of adults experiencing homelessness, the precipitants of homelessness, the barriers and facilitators to exiting homelessness, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on homelessness, and the opportunities to better prevent and end homelessness in California.
