The new Speaker of the Assembly Robert Rivas didn’t waste any time announcing his leadership team and also making some moves. Of note for the house of medicine: Assemblyman Dr. Joaquin Arambula has been removed as the Chairman of Assembly Budget Subcommittee #1, which oversees nearly all health, mental health, and substance abuse-related state budget items. Dr. Arambula was replaced by Assemblywoman Dr. Akilah Weber of San Diego (Reminder: she is running for Senator Toni Atkins seat in 2024).
